Make a Gift
"Never will you attain the good [reward] until you spend [in the way of Allah] from that which you love. And whatever you spend - indeed, Allah knows of it." (3:92)
The stress on Charity is so much that it is mentioned various times in the Quran, and the actual act of Charity done with the intention of pleasing Allah s.w.t is held in high regard. There are two forms of charity in Islam—obligatory and voluntary- called Zakat and Sadaqah.
Sadaqah
Sadaqah is a voluntary act and doesn't necessarily have to be physical or monetary. Simple good deeds such as a smile, teaching someone a good thing, or offering a helping hand are seen as acts of sadaqah.
The Prophet (ﷺ) was known for his generosity and how giving he was to people irrespective of their race or ethnicity. He was described to be 'more generous than the blowing wind.' [Bukhari]. Following his exemplary behavior has many rewards.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire" (Hadith, Tirmidhi). He also said Allah offers relief on the Day of Judgement for those who give sadaqah: "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be their charity" (Hadith, Tirmidhi).
Sadaqah also eases hardships and removes calamities.
The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said, 'Give the sadaqah without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.' (Tirmidhi)
Due to its endless benefits, as Muslims, we should take it upon ourselves to perform daily acts of charity to please Allah SWT because it will benefit us in the current world and the hereafter. We should also remember to be dutiful with our Zakat payments and ensure that our intention is solely to please our Creator. May Allah SWT make it easy for us all.
